APRIL 15 – 9 TO 11 Drop In – Learn About the VFW Auxiliary Our organization is comprised of members from all walks of life with a common connection: all are relatives of those who served overseas in a location of foreign conflict. Nearly 470,000 members in more than 3,600 Auxiliaries across the nation work to improve the lives of veterans, service members and their families, and their communities in a variety of ways. This award is based on nominations from the community for those who have gone above and beyond to serve their communities and especially veterans. Congratulations Deb Pickett. Honoring Our Post-9/11 Heroes: You’re Invited! Leland VFW Post 12196 and Auxiliary want to give a massive shout-out and thank you to our local Afghan and Iraqi war veterans. To honor your incredible service, we are throwing a Hot Dog & Game Fest—and we want you and your crew there! • When: Sunday, August 30, 2026, from 5:30 PM – 7:00 PM • Where: Belville Riverwalk Park, Belville, NC • Who: All Afghan and Iraqi combat veterans, partners, and kids (bring the whole family!) August 30 marks the historic anniversary of the end of the war in Afghanistan. We know the bonds forged in service never fade, so let's get together to catch up, swap stories, and enjoy a laid-back evening. We'll have plenty of great food, backyard games, and activities to keep the kids entertained. We'd appreciate an RSVP so we can lock down the logistics and make sure there are plenty of hot dogs and sides for everyone! Come as you are, connect with fellow modern warriors, and let us celebrate the dedication and sacrifices you and your families have made.
