The Veterans of Foreign Wars is committed to promoting Americanism in our communities and classrooms. 

 

Our local efforts include:

Promoting Flag Etiquette. Each year, we partner with the USS North Carolina to raise and fold flags for their tourists. We also visit classrooms to discuss the flag and the Pledge of Allegiance. 

Promote Patriotism. We march in parades, partner with local middle school for Veterans Day, actively participate in Patriot Pen and Voice of Democracy each year, and annually prepare a POW/MIA table at a local restaurant to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice.  

 

Smart/Maher National Citizenship Education Teacher Award. Annually recognize the top teachers in our area who promote citizenship education.
